Knowledgeable,
Experienced, Reasonable
Everyone deserves the finest legal representation
possible, yet not everyone can afford it. My goal is to
offer my clients the same or better level of competence
and results as the finest family law firms in the state,
at a rate that is affordable.
Expectations
To accomplish this goal, I have a different philosophy
than many law offices. You will be treated as a person,
not as a file which is handed down from lawyers to
paralegal assistants and finally to secretaries. You
will be informed and be advised in your case and
participate in the decision making process. In order to
avoid unnecessary or unreasonable litigation, you will
learn what expectations are realistic under the law and
the facts of your case. You will be encouraged to
contribute to your case to the extent you are capable
of. I believe that there is a synergy created when a
client and an attorney work closely together. This not
only results in a better work product -- and in better
results -- but it keeps the attorney's fees from getting
out of control.
My Practice
I am a true solo practitioner. As such, my law practice
is small, offering incomparable and rapid
responsiveness, flexibility and personal attention. I am
personally involved in every aspect of the case, from
initial interview to final court appearance. My clients
are never shuffled down to paralegals, assistants or
secretaries. There are no "review of file" conferences
with several office personnel all billing the client
simultaneously at their respective hourly rates.
Technology & Assistance
I employ the latest technology offerings available to
family law attorneys, including practicelaw.org
resources, FinPlan, the Minnesota Family Law Database,
the Minnesota Spousal Maintenance Calculator, Divorce
Math, Minnesota Bar Assocation Family Law ListServe and
many other on-line and off-line resources. There is
direct access to both a Certified Tax Preparer and an
Accountant, offering in-house expertise in an area where
most attorneys have to hire outside experts.
Communication
Perhaps most importantly, I believe in full
communication with my clients. You will be copied on
everything that comes into or goes out of the office.
Due to court appearances and appointments, I will not be
able to personally answer the phone every time you call.
However, you will be able to talk to a person, not an
answering machine, during business hours. Confidential
voice-mail messages may also be left 24 hours a day. It
is my policy to return all calls and forward all mail
within one business day of receipt.
